Covid Mental Health Support Groups

We feel passionately that the mental health issues caused by isolation need addressing.  Isolation, restriction of freedom, huge changes in circumstance, financial uncertainty, fear of illness etc. are putting great pressure on a society where mental health is already a big concern.

The primary aim of our groups is to provide mutual support to those suffering under Covid restrictions.  Intended as an opportunity to openly discuss feelings and concerns that have been caused or exacerbated by Covid.

We are starting by running one session each week on a Wednesday morning although depending on demand further sessions will become available.  Places are limited & must be confirmed in advance.

If you would like to be updated about sessions please sign up here and tick ‘Covid Support Groups’ at the bottom. To sign up to a specific session email

Our first session is on Wednesday 11th November from 8.30-10am arrival & departure times are fairly relaxed, arriving late or leaving early is fine and could help reduce any possible congestion on arrival/departure. The session will be run by Miranda Munn.  Please note Miranda is not a qualified counsellor and is acting in the capacity of facilitator of the group which is run on the basis of mutual support.

If attendees would like a drink or snack we encourage people to bring their own.

Toilet facilities are provided & are cleaned before each session.  Care is encouraged if touching door handles or other surfaces after hand washing,  hand sanitiser is provided.

Keeping Safe
Every effort will be taken to ensure attendees feel comfortable & safe meeting up.  The building will be heated but well ventilated with doors open (so layers may be advisable).  Seating will be arranged with the recommended 2m distance between attendees who are advised to remain seated where possible to help maintain social distancing. Face masks must be worn (unless you are exempt) when entering or moving around the church, attendees will be asked to use hand sanitiser & have their temperature checked on arrival.  We ask all attendees to be considerate and keep socially distanced at all times and if there is any congestion around the doors to wait outside appropriately distanced from others. No one that is unwell or displaying any Covid symptoms can attend.  Admittance will only be available to those that have pre-booked and have had their space confirmed.

Government Guidelines
Under the new guidelines formal support groups can take place with up to 15 attendees & you are allowed to leave home to attend one – pages 12-13 Exceptions in relation to gatherings 11(6) & (8)  and page 8 Exceptions to leaving home 5(7)(a)  Details of attendees will be kept, in line with government track & trace guidelines.  You can also scan the church QR code on arrival.
